  This Amazon series was heavily advertised and touted as a great SCI FI  series.  From the works of a Swedish artist Simon Stalenhag, These 8 episodes were crated.  Obviously nothing I imagined it would be, and this is much more emotional and story based than your typical extravagant science fiction.

The Plagues of Breslau

  Another Netflix foreign film, and this one is from Poland.  Not many movies or shows I've seen come out of Poland but this one seemed like something worth while seeing.  This is the summary.  After a body is found sewn inside of a cow hide.  A local detective discovers a killer is recreating an 18th century "plague" of criminal punishments on a bunch of bad people.  Now, does this sound like something we have seen before?

Jordan Peele turns the blind eye of liberals not address ing their own racist thoughts and desires into a black mans nightmare. Satirical in many ways but revealing the underlined comments of white liberals that doesn't compare to the old time southern racism we are use to seeing on screen from the lets go back to the good ole days. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2

  This episode Alicia and I talk about the fantastic movie Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. Since we both saw the first one and I read the comic books from Marvel, we had to see the new one. Alicia had to see it during her conference and I saw it with my daughter Milan. But we had to see vol. 2 and experience this funny, loud exciting movie. We kinda look at this from our different experience with different people but still able to give a great perspective of the movie.

You might be surprised or not surprised by our review of this movie. I should have listened to my favorite podcast Cinemile when they did the review of the movie as well.

  This Episode Alicia and I go to a late showing of Wonder Woman because we heard so much about this movie as well as checking out the interviews with the stars and the director. Since this is a DC movie not a marvel. I was of course cautious of this being a good movie. But we got to enjoy this film from a very different perspective.

  So Alicia and I went to see the newest version of Alien. Alicia's not a fan of the Alien series but I actually enjoyed them. Since we both enjoyed Prometheus, this movie supposed to have extended the thought of the previous movie and lets you know whats next. Of course there is an abundance of stupidity in the movie but we have our opinion.

American Gods (Starz) Review

  For an out of the ordinary review, We decided on a new TV series on Starz to review. The critically acclaimed novel "American Gods" created by Neil Gaiman comes to TV. I mentioned this series to Alicia early last year because we both are big fans of Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies). And this show has all the creative flair of the two of them in such different ways. Check it out, it is partially complex but both horror and entertaining at the same time. Here's the series summary.   Alicia and I reviewed this HBO movie produced by Oprah Winfrey because we read the book The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks a few years ago and really felt that this was an important message about a remarkable African American woman that effected science forever. So we wanted to see if the movie would give the family and book justice.

  Alicia and I went to the movies on the basis of the great reviews for this movie and the star studded characters in the movie. What we found out was this movie was filmed in Atlanta and O boy it was so cool to see Atlanta in its full form.

  On this episode Alicia and I go to the late night showing of Spiderman Homing. As part of our Comic book series, we switch from DC Comics to Marvel Comics. With this teenager based movie, we prepare ourself for what we don't know what to expect. The previews were fun but not a go out and run to (Like the Black Panther trailer).

  Alicia and I were excited to see the new movie from the new Planet of the ape series that are very very good. Its the prequel before the classic 1968 Planet of the apes movie with Charlton Heston. The emotional, exciting and very humanistic view of the movie is what keeps you engaged throughout this new edition of the series. It also fills in some gaps of the 1968 version. Worth seeing but here is our take.

Dunkirk Movie Review

 

• Lyrics

  In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were slowly and methodically evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found. At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated.
  If you don't know Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors. His vision and story tellingability has fascinated me since "memento". But proceeded from there with the Batman trilogy, inception", Intersteller, the Prestige and Insomnia the sleeper of the group. I'm not a big fan of war movies but this was something I knew I would enjoy since Nolan had his hands on it. He wrote the script as well.

Detroit (the Movie)

  Amidst the chaos of the Detroit Rebellion, with the city under curfew and as the Michigan National Guard patrolled the streets, three young African American men were murdered at the Algiers Motel.
  This episode Alicia and watch another one of the best directors working today (Kathryn Bigelow ) The director of the previous two blockbusters The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. Since we didn't have much history of what went on in the city of Detroit during this era. We weren't sure if this was worth going to see But when we found out Kathryn was director it, I knew we had to see it. This is a very intense and contemporary movie of what is going on in our society right now.

  Alicia and I went to this movie ready for some kick ass spy stuff and really trying see what this movie was all about. We saw some pretty good major actors in this movie along with Charlize Theron that help her along her trip to find the proverbial spy list with all the agents in the whole wide world.

Girls Trip (2017)

  This episode Alicia and I go see the movie Girls trip. Not top on my list but we heard a lot of critical pluses about the movie and it did have some great veteran female leads. so we took the chance and went to see it. Yup I went too. What we found was something that wasn't what the trailers totally represented or what the normal raunchy buddy trip normally shows us.
  Best friends Ryan, Sasha, Lisa and Dina are in for the adventure of a lifetime when they travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. Along the way, they rekindle their sisterhood and rediscover their wild side by doing enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

  On this episode of Urban Lifestyle Cafe, Alicia and I get to see the once retired Steven Soderbergh new movie "Logan Lucky". Most people know Steven from his "Ocean" series (11, 12, 13). With this movie goes back to his robbery, heist days with a new twist with different people. I do like Steven's movies.
  Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy and Clyde Logan set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway

  Today Alicia and I went to see the theatrical release of the Stephen Kings novel It. We also went back and watched part one of the 1990 mini series. Very interesting differences between the two movies as well as sticking to the same story line but in a modern way with updated special effects and a more sinister crazy ass clown

  On this episode, Alicia and I check out the second installment of The Kingsman: The Golden Circle. We enjoyed the first one so much as well as a lot of other people that they made second one. Previews show how exciting this one was going to be so we prepared for another thrill ride.

  This episode Alicia and I jumps on the Hulu bandwagon and watches the new series "The Handmaid's Tale" based on the book by Margaret Atwood (a Canadian author). A crazy alternative society that enslaves women and have a certain set of women used to bear children for the rich oligarchy. We wanted to see this series because of the strangely relevant way we see this can happen due to the disrespect women are receiving from men in power. Whether its the business sector or the government.

  Today Alicia and I went to the movies to see Blade Runner 2049. We are such fans of Denis Villeneuve that I had to see this movie regardless of the reviews and ratings. The day before we sat down and watched the original Blade Runner with the main protaganist Harrisson Ford. This one stars Ryan Gosling as the new Blade runner hunting older replicants trying to stop a potential PR disaster with the way replicants and humans see their reality. This is such an interesting movie. See what we think about it. You might be interested the way we both see it.

Wind River movie review

  Alicia and I sit down to watch this independent release film about a rape murder on an Indian reservation. This slow moving crime drama suspense is worth the watch with good actor. Absolutely good writing and a decent directing job. This wasnt on our list but based on the critics comments and the directors track record of good directing and writing. I wanted us to see this unorthodox movie.
  Cory Lambert is a wildlife officer who finds the body of an 18-year-old woman on an American Indian reservation in snowy Wyoming. When the autopsy reveals that she was raped, FBI agent Jane Banner arrives to investigate. Teaming up with Lambert as a guide, the duo soon find that their lives are in danger while trying to solve the mystery of the teen's death

  On this episode, Alicia and I binge watch the new Netflix series by David Fincher and Charlize Theron, Mindhunter. This psychological series about the FBI behavior science unit gets us in to the mind of the FBI agents that tried to figure out the deviant behaviors of these killers. A slow but well worth it series.
  In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters. Mindhunter is an American crime drama web television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker.

  That was summary to the movie but anyway, Alicia and I watched this critically acclaimed movie called A ghost Story separately after I was recommended to watch and review this independent film. This love, spiritual and exploration of time story is an interesting view of what love and time does to a person when you have no control of what can be done.

  Alicia and finally get around to see our iconic 42nd street put into a TV series. We talk about our time in downtown Manhattan and different aspects of the sex trade in NYC that the TV series shows.
  "The Deuce" tells of the germination of the sex-trade industry in the heart of New York's Times Square. It's the early 1970s, and the porn business begins a shift from organized crime-backed parlors to a legitimate, culturally accepted enterprise.

  Big fan of the comic book character Frank Castle. I convinced Alicia to sit and watch this series with me on Netflix. First introduced on the Netflix Marvel Series Daredevil. I eagerly awaited for his series to come out. Here's the surprising review by Alicia and I.

I thought this would be a good comedy drama to see.

Alicia is not a horror fan but she is taking the plunge based on much of the talk and reviews.

This strange and controversial movie is a strong commentary on labor and social interactions in our society today. We had to give it a try and especially being based on a true story. A black man tricking and joining the Klan.

But when we were hit with all of the critically acclaimed reviews as well as an Oakland story written and directed by African Americans and Hispanics. I had to give it a go. A very humorous, heartfelt drama that will hopefully make you think about the day to day struggles of anyone trying to remove stigmas from their identity. ANd struggle to try to do the right thing in a very hard environment.

  We go to the movies to see one of our favorite bands of our childhood. Queen. Knowing almost all the hits and some that we did not know they made. We wanted to go to the theater and sing along with the screen. I was not a big follower of Freddie Mercury but we were aware of some of his exploits. So the lack of craziness they didn’t show wasn’t a big deal to us.

Sadly it goes from Romance and love to drama and tragedy that you see intimately through out the movie. Should have been on the list for best movie of the year.

  So, Dark is a well written Sci Fi phenomenon. Even in German the complexities and time travel concepts are top notch. We pick up after the Apocalypse occurs in their small town in Germany. And a whole new sequence of events start out to uncover the true meaning behind the multidimensional love story between the two characters.

  As one of the top watched shoes on Netflix for awhile. I decided to watch this action movie with Charlize Theron. The fact that she is being deleted from the new Mad max reboot, I wanted to see what she she still had in the tank. This popular concept of immortal heroes fighting the wrongs in the world is not new but a bit different based on the secret society and finding a new recruit in the present day.

  So this is a weird one. I’m usually into quality made movies or action packed epic films. Also If it is written well, a drama that catches my attention. But this recommendation was a 2017 B movie about time travel. I was told it was similar to my time travel preferences so I stopped to check it out. Here is the synopsis. A group of students become trapped inside a mysterious cave where they discover time passes differently underground than on the surface.
